Cultural Iftar Evening @ Rise, Dubai Creek Harbour
This Ramadan, come together with the Dubai community for a unique evening experience at RISE Dubai Creek Harbour. With the stunning Dubai skyline and serene water of Dubai Creek as the backdrop, RISE will offer an appetizing buffet of traditional Arabian dishes and international favourites for both Iftar and Suhoor meals.
With music by the talented Khalil Ghadri to set the scene, visitors can flex their creative muscle at workshops for making Eid cards, Ramadan gift hampers, and Islamic art pattern making, or join friends to play board games over tea. Pop-up stores featuring home décor, accessories, gifts and fashion will cater to those wishing to do a little evening shopping, and entertainment including book reading will be available for children. The relaxed atmosphere in one of Dubai’s most picturesque spots is the perfect way to enjoy the evenings with family, friends and neighbours during the Holy Month.
This Ramadan culinary project is the culmination of multiple parties. CHI-KA, the kimono shop and Japanese art space, crafted the Arabic-Japanese fusion menus, while Radisson Blu Hotel Dubai provides the catering under the careful eye of Chef Uwe Micheel, Director of Kitchens at Radisson Blu Hotel and President of Emirates Culinary Guild. Enjoy the buffet-style Iftar and a-la-carte Suhoor in the blended ambient surrounding of live oud music, Arabic calligraphy murals and bonsai gardens. Post-Iftar activities include complimentary bonsai tree workshops, origami workshops, poetry recitals, games and even a Japanese tea ceremony.With the aim of promoting cultural tolerance and creativity, friends and family of all ages are welcome.
Explore nine different zones which are set throughout the mall. The Knowledge Zone features the ‘House of Wisdom’, which contains a collective of learnings from rare manuscripts. Listen to stories and poetry recitals for adults and children by author Alia Al Shamsi and diplomat/author Omar Ghobash at the Literature Zone.
Try the Oculus with stargazing apps or Google Cardboard, and meet members of the Dubai Astronomy group at The Science Zone. Watch screenings about Islamic identity, culture and life by Arab and Muslim directors at the Film Zone.
The Design Zone showcases the traditional use of light and intricate geometry in design, while the Calligraphy Zone features a virtual reality tool. If you’re a fan of numbers, you will enjoy the scientific genius of Al Khwarizmi, Al Kindi and Al Misri, who shaped the essence of mathematics and algebra at The Numeric Zone.
And finally, fashion lovers can head to the Fashion Zone where they can get style advice from designers and also learn to make Islamic handicrafts at the Art Zone.
Iftar @ Dubai Opera
Sit down to Iftar in the beautiful surrounds of Dubai Opera, the crown jewel of the Downtown Dubai. From 14 to 25 June, the contemporary yet elegant venue will transform into a banquet hall fit for groups of all sizes.
Break your fast with a specially designed menu, with friendly and expert waiters attending to your every need. A talented trio of musicians will add to the enchanting ambiance with a selection of Arabic and English instrumental melodies played on harp, flute and percussion.
Groups of 11 guests and over will only pay AED220 per person. There will also be a 50% discount for children under 11 years old and little ones under six are welcome to dine for free.
