Olympians set sights on Dubai Women’s Run  AED100,000 prize money for 10K and 5K races  5,000+ participants expected at the 6th edition of the race  Proceeds from the event to benefit the Al Jalila Foundation  Race date set for Friday, November 4th
Dubai, UAE – 27 October 2016: UAE Athletics Federation announced today that Emirati distance runner and Asian Games gold medalist, Alia Mohammed Saeed as well as 13 other Elite and Olympic Athletes have confirmed participation for the 6th Dubai Women’s Run, further boosting the profile of the event. Air France KLM has partnered as the Official Airline for the event and has sponsored the travel of the world-class athletes for the Run and partnered as the Official apparel outfitter for the 5000+ participants. Additionally, Al Jalila Foundation is the event’s preferred beneficiary, with all participants encouraged to dedicate funds to support medical research in the UAE.
The Dubai Woman’s Run caliber of participants has risen to the next level with these athletes. UAE Athletics Federation is contributing prize money totaling AED 100,000 annually for this event, to position it as Dubai’s official women’s international run.
International runners participating in the race include: – Stella Tamrazyan and Lilit Harutyunyan from Armenia – Ali Taher Bibiro from Chad – Kristina Maki and Simona Vrzalova from the Czeck Republic – Marie Elaine Saholinirina from Madagascar – Biljana Cvijanovic and Ana Risticevic from Serbia – Dina Lebo Phalula from South Africa Stella Chesang and Mercyline Chelangat from Uganda
IAAF Council Member and President of the UAE Athletics Federation Ahmed Al Kamali stated, “The Dubai Women’s Run supports the Government’s initiative to encourage healthy living in UAE and our sponsorship demonstrates our commitment to further spreading our ‘wellness’ message’ across the nation. We are proud to be investing in our community by supporting events like this that empower women and encourage them to live an active life.”

Over 5,000+ participants are expected at this year’s Dubai Women’s Run. With just week to go before the race on Friday, 4 November 2016, excitement is building up to the most anticipated women’s Run in Dubai. This year the Run will collaborate with the Sun and Sands Sports Fitness Fest adding a new dimension to the finale of the Run and a start to two days of fun and fitness for the public.
