Dolce & Gabbana Fashion Catwalk @ The Dubai Mall New Boutique on 7th October 2018

I was very proud to be Italian during the superb event, the first Dolce & Gabbana fashion show to be produced in the Middle East. The fashion show titled Day & Night was held at the Dubai Mall’s Fashion Avenue to officially inaugurate the brand’s new boutique on October 7, with founding designers Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana in attendance.

Dolce & Gabbana brought its very specific brand of Italian flair to the Dubai Mall, with a high-profile runway show that is shaping up to be the UAE’s fashion event of the year.

The event featured more than 120 international models and showcased both men and womenswear on the runway, as well as featuring special Dubai looks.

The Day & Night collection ranges from intricately decorated evening gowns in pink peony, orange, yellow and blue chiffon, featuring ‘arabesque ornamental motifs’, according to a statement, to more masculine, contemporary and sporty tuxedos.  Dolce & Gabbana trademarks, including feather details, gold, silver and bejewelled adornments, floral embroidery and crowns and hats.

While the brand has long shown its appreciation for its Middle Eastern customers through dedicated capsule collections that include abayas, sheylas and turbans, this is the first time that a Dolce & Gabbana show has been produced in the Middle East.

The interiors of the store itself, it’s full of gold, damask, and drama.

Their Spring/Summer 2019 show at Milan Fashion Week was inspired by DNA, naturally featuring an incredibly diverse cast of models representing all races, ages, and genders including familiar faces like Ashley Graham and Helena Christensen (with Sheikha Dana Al Khalifa representing the Middle East!).

Dolce & Gabbana was founded in Milan in 1985 and has made a name for itself as a billion dollar brand over the past 33 years.

An exclusive dinner by invitation only, it was held at Play Restaurant Dubai, after the catwalk.
